Embracing the Artistry of Moon Jars
As a ceramics major, Mr. Chae has always valued the process of capturing the essence of each moment in his work. While he has undertaken projects of all sizes and styles, leaving traces of his feelings in a piece has never been an easy task.
However, working with moon jars felt like a perfect match for Mr. Chae. No technique or method has ever captivated him the way moon jars do. Their unique appeal lies in how the entire process of creation becomes part of the artwork, preserving the marks of the clay and the movement of the potter's wheel.
Even moon jars with added colors are essentially white porcelain, yet they beautifully retain the shape and rhythm imparted by the turning wheel and the natural texture of the clay. It brings Mr. Chae an immense joy to see these traces etched into the work.
Mr. Chae hopes you, too, can share in the wonder and joy he has experienced through this creative journey.
